Good conversations.
Jesus would start with a GOOD conversation. Have a good conversation. Show interest in someone and encourage them. Be sincere and kind. Ask questions and be conversational. Everyone wants to be noticed, cared for and loved. Become good at having GOOD conversations everywhere you are.
God conversations.
Jesus would transition a GOOD conversation into questions, comments or attributes of God. Look for opportunities to mention a brief comment about God’s work in your life, an attribute of God’s character, etc. Be sensitive to how this is received and responded to, and if someone is ready to talk more about God.
If not, keep having GOOD conversations, adding occasional God comments and praying for your readiness and their receptivity.
Gospel conversations.
Jesus would transition a GOD conversation into truth about His salvation. Look for a way to connect a God conversation to a specific salvation conversation. Try sharing how you discovered your need for Jesus, how He changed your life, or how you’ve seen Him change others’ lives.
The hopeful outcome is having a GOSPEL conversation about the incarnation, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus that provides our only way of salvation. Use simple Gospel icons to visually share too.
We practice these four steps to have effective conversations that lead toward salvation.
Pray for
conversations.
Pray for yourself to be able to have these conversations and for you to intersect paths with people God has been preparing for this moment.
Prepare for conversations.
Prepare for these conversations by reading your Bible more, leveraging some of the resources above, practicing and even just thinking about this more.
Pursue
conversations.
Pursue these conversations by looking for opportunities daily, wherever you are, that they might happen.
Prompting of
the Holy Spirit.
We do not push someone past their point of readiness. Follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit, when you discern readiness in someone for these conversations.
