Creation
Beauty. God creates all things beautiful to display His love and essence. God creates people to share His love and respond to His love. There is nothing other than goodness in God’s creation.
Genesis 1:1
Fall
Brokenness. People choose self over God. Sin enters and distorts people’s relationship with God, self, others and the world. Brokenness enters into and affects everything in God’s original, beautiful creation.
Romans 3:23
Works
People attempt to repair their relationship with God by their own works and their own ways. But sinful people cannot repair or reconcile themselves to a holy God. People are hopeless without God’s gracious intervention.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Incarnation
God loves people, so He Himself enters His creation in the flesh, being born because we’re born, so He can substitute Himself in our place. People cannot get to God, so God came to us.
Titus 2:11
Crucifixion
Since God loves the world, He sent His one and only Son, both God and man, to stand in as a substitute for our sin and die on a cross. Jesus suffered because we suffer. And Jesus died because we die.
2 Corinthians 5:21
Resurrection
Life is more powerful than death. The uncreated Creator of all life resurrected from death by His own power. Jesus overcomes death for all who will receive Him and His resurrection on their behalf. He raised back to life because we could not.
1 Corinthians 6:14
Salvation
Jesus repairs people’s broken relationship with God and gives His Spirit to live within all who believe in Him as Lord and Savior. True belief in Jesus begins with a new life empowered by His Spirit, and this new life begins now and lasts forever.
Romans 10:9-10
Return
Jesus will return one day to complete our salvation and restore all things to their original, beautiful state as it was before sin entered the world. We grow daily by following Jesus, looking ahead with hope in His return.
